Commitment to Growth
Keeping up with the ever-changing technology means a commitment to change and growth.
When Dr. Chinappi began practicing in 1970, he utilized the traditional orthodontic technique of retraction which is accomplished with use of braces, headgear and, often, extraction of permanent teeth.
As Dr. Chinappi completed cases using this technique and continued his studies, it became apparent that the results were contrary to what he knew about growth and development.
Through continued research, Dr. Chinappi became familiar with the non-traditional techniques practiced in Europe based on the theory of expansion rather than retraction.
In 1979, Dr. Chinappi transformed his traditional orthodontic practice into a non-traditional functional orthodontic practice. This was not a simple change – it meant a change in the physical facility, a change in staff and a change in mind set. It meant, more than ever, that cognitive care had to be administered with thoughtful evaluation and re-evaluation at every step along the way.
In 1992, another transformation took place in Dr. Chinappi’s practice. In order to incorporate the new technologies available, another facility renovation was performed.
Each transformation held its own risks and benefits. Dr. Chinappi’s dedication to the best cognitive and procedural care for his clients mandates that the risks be taken – ultimately, the benefits to our clients follow.
As the spotlight continues to fall on the health care system in this country, we remain confident that quality health care, both cognitive and procedural together, will continue to be valued and appreciated by the people of this nation.
