Who . . . Where . . . How Much . . .

The orthodontic marketplace has always offered a multiplicity of choices:  different appliance systems, various forms of treatment therapies, different types of providers.  It is only recently due to the proliferation of advertising, talk shows and the like that the public has been made so aware of the choices.

The choices that are being made seem to be based on the obvious:  who, where, and for how much; that is, which doctor, which type of treatment, and how much will I pay for this service?

However, the real questions that should be asked are “who and why?”  What is the philosophical basis on which this care is going to be provided?  Orthodontics is not orthodontics:  All orthodontic treatment is not the same nor are all orthodontists the same.
